Who We Are
The Vision & Language Group (VLG) at IIT Roorkee is an elite and dynamic student-driven community focused on pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence. Our mission is to advance research in Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing by developing innovative, impactful solutions that advance the current understanding and overcome limitations at the frontier of AI.
We strive to foster a vibrant community for research and discussion where faculty and passionate undergraduate students collaborate to tackle challenging problems and translate our ideas into impactful research and publications. We facilitate this through a cycle of open discussions, specialized workshops, and collaborative open-community projects. More than just a workspace, VLG fosters a strong sense of community, regularly organizing talks, technical workshops, informal discussions, and trips to ensure our collective remains a stimulating and enjoyable place to innovate and grow.
Our Journey
The group was initiated as a student-led paper discussion forum. The primary objective was to establish a collaborative environment for the critical analysis of contemporary artificial intelligence research.
This period was dedicated to fostering a robust and open research culture. A series of member-organized initiatives, including academic workshops, knowledge-transfer sessions, and open forums, were implemented to build a strong, collaborative community.
A significant milestone was achieved with the publication of the group’s first academic abstract, authored entirely by student members and accepted at the AAAI Conference.
Building on prior success, group members independently authored and presented their first workshop paper at NeurIPS, showcasing their growing ability to contribute original research in a leading academic setting.
The group reached a major academic milestone with the acceptance and publication of its first full-length, peer-reviewed conference paper at ACL. Authored exclusively by students, this achievement marks the culmination of the group’s ongoing research development and academic maturity.
